Stevenson will fight Harutyunyan next on July 6

The parties are finalizing the deal for the fight

WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson will fight next with Artem Harutyunyan from Germany on July 6. The parties complete the discussion of the details of the transaction.

The fight will take place in Newark, New Jersey. Stevenson’s WBC title will be on the line.

Shakur last fought against Edwin De Los Santos in November 2023. The fight lasted 12 rounds, following which all the judges gave the victory to Stevenson. However, many fans were unhappy with the spectacle of the fight and the passivity of both boxers, who landed a record low 40 punches between them.

Promoter Bob Arum later announced that Stevenson had retired from his professional career due to a failed fight with WBO super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete. Despite the above, later the same Arum announced a possible fight between Stevenson and the Ukrainian Vasily Lomachenko.

Harutyunyan, 33, suffered his only loss to Frank Martin in July 2023. Previously, the German of Armenian origin defeated Ukrainian Vladislav Melnik in April 2021 in a fight for the WBA International lightweight title.
