Zabarny: I’m here to become a big player

The Ukrainian gradually became one of the leaders in Bournemouth

Centerback Bournemouth Ilya Zabarny spoke about his professional growth in the ranks of Cherries. The Ukrainian football player also named the player who is an example to follow and develop.

“When I feel the atmosphere now, when I hear it, when people are standing and shouting about everything, every minute, that’s why I play football. I play for the fans.”

“They have a job, they work, they come to the Vitality Stadium and I want to perform for them. They come to see us to feel good. The atmosphere here at the Vitality Stadium is amazing. I feel it at every match, that every seat is filled. Every team, when they come to us, they think: “Oh, this is going to be tough.”

“Iraiola, first of all, is a good person and, of course, all his assistants are very good [в тренерстве/управлении]. He talks a lot about tactics. I love it because I play in the best league in the world. I’m here to become a big player. I want this”.

“Best defender? Van Dijk is the best because of his positioning, the way he talks to his teammates and his good attitude. He’s a leader. In sports, when sometimes things don’t go the way you would like, you have to snap, wake up, and every team has players like that.”

Zabarny joined Bournemouth from Dynamo in January last year, signing a contract until 2028. This season, the Ukrainian played 34 games for Vishen in all tournaments, scoring one goal.

Note that Ilya is the only player in Bournemouth who played all the games in the Premier League without substitutions.

Bournemouth holds 13th place in the Premier League. In the next round, the Cherries will host Crystal Palace on April 2.
