Ukrainian boxer defeated American Brian Mendoza
Interim WBC junior middleweight champion, Ukrainian Sergei Bogachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) addressed the fans after defeating the American boxer Brian Mendoza (22-4-0, 16 KOs).
“I want to say that this is a victory for my country, Ukraine. We are in a difficult time right now. With this victory, I want to motivate our people to win. I want to appeal to Ukrainian fans – hang in there, we will definitely win. Support me, and I will try to support and motivate you. Together – we are force. Ukrainians are people who cannot be broken.”
The Ukrainian confidently defeated Mendoza in the fight, which took place in Las Vegas. At the end of 12 rounds, all judges gave the victory to Bogachuk – 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.
Sergey won the title of interim WBC champion. The new owner of the full WBC junior middleweight belt is Sebastian Fundora, who defeated Tim Tszyu.
