Zenit striker Izidor explains why it is important for him to beat Spartak

Before “Zenith » Wilson Isidore told me what state he was in before the cup match with “Spartak “and how he treats his opponent.

The first semi-final of the Russian Cup RPL FONBET “Spartak” – “Zenit” will take place on April 3 in Moscow and will start at 20:30 (Moscow time).

— Zenit’s schedule includes three matches in nine days. Is it difficult to work with such a schedule?

– No, we like to play a lot and often – it’s our job and our favorite pastime. It may not be easy physically, but from a mental point of view, playing is much more enjoyable than training.

— The previous meeting with Spartak took place a month ago. Why didn’t you score in this match?

— It was a difficult match which ended with a score of 0:0. I think the fact is that we returned after intense work in training camp, which lasted more than a month. In addition, they moved from one climatic zone to another.

— How would you rate your form and condition?

— I think I’m 100% ready. I continue to progress physically and mentally, I’m on the right track and I hope to finish the season on a good note.

— Why do you think you were not able to show high performances this season?

– The fact is that at the beginning of the season I had to face a lot of difficulties – personal and professional. But now all these problems are a thing of the past. I work a lot with Anatoly Timoshchuk, he helps me a lot both on and off the training field. I think I’m ready for a good end to the season and the start of the next one.

— Last season there was a similar situation with Mateo Cassierra. Maybe he can give us some advice on how to fix this?

“We talked about it a lot and came to the conclusion that the main solution to the problem is work. Stay confident and work hard. If you deserve to be the best, success will definitely come.

— The next match against Spartak is a Cup match. Do you feel a difference between cup matches and championship matches?

— Personally, I perceive each match as a final. No matter the tournament, even just a friendly match, we always need to win. I want to win all my matches, so for me there is no difference between these tournaments.

— You previously played for Lokomotiv, now you play for Zenit. Have the meetings with Spartak become special for you?

– Yes, of course, yes. It’s very important for these two teams to beat Spartak, and now it’s important for me personally. We have to show that we are the best team in Russia,” reports a correspondent, according to Izidor.
