Athletistic / Football. Former Russian national team striker and now football coach Alexander Kerzhakov explained why he decided to stay in Serbia after resigning as coach of Spartak Subotica. The Russian was fired from the Serbian club on November 14, 2023.
“My family and I didn’t change anything, because my son went to school in Serbia, until the fourth grade. We decided not to drag him anywhere – he will finish his studies here this school year.
In Serbia, the attitude towards Russia is a little different from that in other countries. This is not only visible in communicating with people. There are a large number of billboards here that remind us that Russia and Serbia are united,” Kerzhakov was quoted as saying by the Championship.
Before Spartak Subotica, Alexander worked in the Cypriot team Karmiotissa, Paris Nizhny Novgorod, Tomsk Tomi, as well as in the Russian youth team. Previously, he said he had decided to leave Russia with his family after the announcement of partial mobilization in the country (September 2022).
