Vorskla is the only team, except for Dynamo, which defeated Shakhtar in the Ukrainian Cup final. This happened in 2009, when the Poltava team, led by Nikolai Pavlov, beat the Gornyaki in Dnepr (1:0), thanks to a goal from Sachko. In the decisive match of the tournament, the Miners defeated Dynamo five times, Dnepr three times, CSKA, Donetsk Metallurg, Chernomorets, Zarya, Ingulets once each.

Last time in the Ukrainian Cup Shakhtar and Vorskla crossed paths in the 2015/2016 season at the 1/4 final stage. In March 2016, the Miners crushingly won in Poltava – 4:0 (goals from Kovalenko, Ferreira, Kucher and Nem) and lost in Kyiv 1:2 (Bernard – Khlebas-2).

Vorskla won the last two head-to-head matches against Shakhtar: in the second round of the last UPL championship and the first round of the current one. Before the final match of the Ukrainian Cup, which is scheduled for May 15, Shakhtar and Vorskla will meet in the 24th round of the Premier League.

In three matches on the way to the final, Vorskla did not concede a single goal, beating Metalist 1925 (3:0), Obolon (3:0) and Polesie (1:0). Shakhtar conceded one goal in three matches played: Veres (3:0), Victoria (3:0), Chernomorets (4:1).
