The Kharkov team’s mentor spoke about his desire to get the long-awaited victory and spoke about the tactical flexibility of his team
Head coach Metalist 1925 Victor Skripnik commented on the draw result (1:1) in the away match against Kolos in the 23rd round of the UPL.
“Everyone knows how difficult it is to play here. This team is statistically in first place in the UPL in shots after set pieces. Kolos is a very powerful team that plays well on the second floor. Therefore, I think that for us this draw is more positive than negative. A compliment to my guys, because they didn’t wilt, but continued to play football, wanted to equalize the score, and then wanted to win. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out, but I say again, there is more positive from this draw than there would have been if we had lost.”
“I hope that if the players continue to behave like this, work the way we work in training, we will soon win. I thanked the team for the result, for the dedication, for the understanding. We want to fix all this, so we can’t wait for the next match.”
“We have a lot of injured people, so even during the training process between matches, when we train, we try to be careful. It’s unpleasant when players you count on drop out. We are trying to fight this, although it is an integral part of football. We need to live with it, which is what we do.”
“As for tactics, everyone is restructuring, we are also restructuring. We don’t just play what we want or just because. We understand who we are playing against, what kind of opponent they are, what their statistics are, what aspects of them are better than other teams. We are preparing for any opponent. Whether it succeeds or not is another matter.”
Let us remind you that the Kharkiv team were inferior after the first half, but equalized the score immediately after the break thanks to incredible strike from Andrey Boryachuk from outside the penalty area.
Metalist 1925 scored only the second point in the last 11 matches of the championship and occupies 15th (penultimate) place in the standings. In the next round, Skripnik’s team will play against SK Dnepr-1.
