Rukh’s mentor believes that the defeat from Shakhtar can be useful and instructive for his players
Head coach Ruha Vitaly Ponomarev commented on the 23rd round match UPLin which his team lost To the miner (1:3).
“The result of the match is natural, because Rukh failed the first 20 minutes against Shakhtar. You need to go into such matches in a good mood and play boldly. However, skill played a role, and the players of the Donetsk team showed their best class. The young team psychologically lost the fight in the opening of the match.”
“During the break, I asked the players to act more intensely, because in the second part of the first half we started to have chances. We managed to score a goal, but then we did not allow Shakhtar to create many chances near our goal. In particular, they scored the third goal, using almost the only opportunity.”
“The club’s strategy is to trust its students, and we will continue to move in this direction. Muhammad Dzhurabaev showed himself excellently in the training process. He is a responsible guy and behaves very professionally, despite his young age. The coaching staff decided to give Muhammad the opportunity to make his debut for the first team and this is not an artificial way out, but he really deserved it with his fruitful and hard work. At the same time, this is a good motivation for other students of Rukh Academy.”
“After the game I thanked the guys for this match. In order to compete with teams of Shakhtar’s level, you need to work even harder. To some extent, this result can be useful for us: victories alone will not teach football players, and there must also be defeats in order to draw the right conclusions from them and take positive moments from this game.”
Let us remind you that Shakhtar scored two goals for Rukh in the first 16 minutes of the game – Artem Bondarenko scored both times. Towards the end of the half, the Lviv team scored one goal through the efforts of Talles, but after the break they conceded for the third time.
In the reporting match, 16-year-old Muhammad Djurabaev made his debut for the Rukh first team.
Rukh, despite the defeat, remained fifth in the standings. This place will give access to European competition if Vorskla does not beat Shakhtar in the Ukrainian Cup final.
Ponomarev’s team will play their next match on Saturday, April 13, at home against Krivbass, which is second in the UPL.
