Bochum sacked Thomas Letsch as head coach

The team from the Ruhr region scored only a point in six rounds and was in danger of relegation

Bochum officially announced his separation from the head coach Thomas Lech. His assistant also left the club Jan Visser.

The 55-year-old Lech’s independent coaching career includes the Austrian Liefering, Salzburg and Austria, the German Erzgebirge and the Dutch Vitesse. He came to Bochum in September 2022, when the team, after a disastrous start, was last in the Bundesliga, and managed to maintain its place in the elite.

This season, the Unbreakables were closer to the middle of the standings (and Lech’s contract was extended in November until the summer of 2026), but in the spring the team found itself in a crisis. In the last six matches under Leche, Bochum scored only one point and fell back to 15th place – only three points above Mainz, which is in the transition zone.

In the next round, Bochum will host Heidenheim on April 13. The club will announce who will take the position of Lech in the near future.
