After another draw in the South American Championship, Cruzeiro goalkeeper Rafael Cabral admits a mistake and puts the loss of position in the hands of the technical committee
After suffering a draw in the final minutes of the last match, the team’s goalkeeper cruise, Rafael Cabral, admitted failing to score the decisive goal and publicly apologized to the team and fans. Furthermore, the player also made a point of making himself available to lose his starting position in the team’s goal.
“It was a technical failure. It’s not the first time I’ve been booed in my career. I made a technical mistake, I harmed the team and I take full responsibility for that. We had an excellent first half, the objective was to maintain and score more goals. Really, my failure ended up destabilizing, it has nothing to do with the boos I was suffering, from my heart. I accept, I deserved it. I take responsibility“, stated Rafael, who had been booed since the warm-up.

Afterwards, the goalkeeper followed up his statement by apologizing for the admitted mistake and showing peace of mind in case of losing his position in the starting team. According to him, the technical committee led by Fernando Seabra and the board will resolve the possible change.
“It doesn’t affect me (the booing), but at the same time, I’m here to help. If at any point I feel that I may be causing harm, if I leave there is no problem. Management and coach are there to resolve and decide“, added the player in an interview after the match.
The disappointment is due to the excellent first half played by the team, which opened a 3-0 lead against Alianza Petrolera, in a match valid for the Copa Sudamericana. Even so, the team allowed a draw in the final stage, and Cruzeiro ended up wasting the opportunity to win the expected three points.
