Real Madrid interested in Villarreal goalkeeper Jorgensen

The young Dane could become an unexpected alternative to Lunin next season

real Madrid shows interest in goalkeeper Villarreal to Philip Jorgensen. The 22-year-old Dane could become an alternative to the Ukrainian Andrey Lunin as a backup Thibaut Courtois next season and great prospects for the future.

22-year-old Jorgensen has been in the structure of the Levantine club since 2015, but only this season he became a starter for Villarreal. In the current campaign, he played 31 matches for the Yellow Submarine, conceded 54 goals, and kept a clean sheet in four matches.

However, signing Jorgensen next summer will not be so easy. He has a current contract with Villarreal until 2027, and a potential transfer could cost at least 30 million euros. In addition, Real will have to withstand competition with English giants Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, who also have their eyes on the Scandinavian prospect.

Real Madrid’s main goalkeeper this season is Lunin. The Ukrainian took advantage of Courtois’ regular injuries and outright won the competition against Kepa Arrizabalaga, who will return to Chelsea at the end of the season. In a recent match against Manchester City (3:3), Andrei made a scoring error and missed a free kick into the near corner.

Lunin is currently negotiating to sign a new contract with Real Madrid. Blancos offer to increase wages and stipulate a guaranteed number of games that the Ukrainian will play per season. At the same time, Lunin will be the reserve goalkeeper, while the “first number” should remain with Courtois.

Real Madrid is confidently leading in La Liga. Tomorrow, April 17, Blancos will play the return match of the 1/4 finals of the Champions League against Manchester City on the road.

Villarreal are in 9th place in La Liga. Only the main outsiders Granada and Almeria missed more.
