Ukrainian Maksimenko won gold at the 2024 World Fencing Championships among cadets and juniors

Emily Conrad won bronze in the same epee competition

Ukrainian epee fencers won two medals in individual competitions at 2024 World Fencing Championship among cadets and juniors in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.

Current European champion Anna Maksimenko got it gold. The 16-year-old athlete defeated Sharika Gajala from the USA in the final – 15:13.

Another Ukrainian Emily Conradwon in the same competitions bronze medal. In the quarterfinals, Emily defeated the Italian Testa Maria Chiara – 15:14. And in the semi-finals the Ukrainian lost to Gajala, who was later defeated by Maksimenko – 7:15.

Earlier, the Ukrainian women’s team won a license for the 2024 Olympic Games in team epee fencing competitions. Ukraine will be able to enter four athletes into the 2024 Olympics in women’s epee. Three of them are eligible to participate in individual competitions.
