Xavi on his sending off in the match against PSG: I told the referee that his work was a disaster

The Blaugranas coach was sent off in the second half of the return match with PSG

Head coach Barcelona Xavi after the second match with PSG (1:4) in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, he sharply criticized the team of referees and personally the referee of the match, Romanian Istvan Kovac.

“The referee did a very bad job. I told him his job was a disaster. I don’t like to talk about the judges, but it clearly had an impact on the season. This needs to be talked about and it needs to be acknowledged.”

“We are very upset and angry because the red card was decisive in the match. With eleven players we were in a good position, played well and controlled the game.”

“Showing such a red card in a game like this is too much. This is another match like this. It’s a pity that the work of the whole season was spoiled by an unnecessary removal.”

The Blaugranas were left in the minority after Araujo was sent off midway through the first half. Kovac also sent Xavi off from the technical area in the 56th minute.

Barcelona finished at the quarter-final stage of the Champions League. In the first meeting, PSG lost to Barcelona (2:3), but the Blaugranas lost to the Parisians on their home field – 1:4.

PSG will play Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals of the tournament.
