Former Spartak coach Dmitry Gunko believes that the head of Rostov Valery Karpin is the most suitable candidate for the position of head coach of the red and whites.
On Sunday, Spartak announced the dismissal of Guillermo Abascal. The Spaniard’s assistant Vladimir Sliskovich was appointed interim head coach of the team.
“Any decision made now will be provisional. In my opinion, the person who can take Spartak to the previous level is Karpin. He has changed since his days leading the team and has progressed. And now we see the results of “Rostov”, their game, changes in the composition, as players,” Gunko quotes RB Sport.
On Wednesday, Spartak will face Zenit in the second leg of the RPL FONBET Russian Cup semi-final. The first match ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the St. Petersburg team.
