Tuchel: At half-time we called on the team to show a little more individuality and courage

Kimmich’s goal takes Munich to the Champions League semi-finals

Mentor Bayern’s Thomas Tuchel commented on the victory over Arsenal (1:0) in the return match of the 1/4 finals of the Champions League.

“In the first half there was a chess game. Nobody wanted to make the first mistake. Everyone played carefully – there were moments for us, there were moments for Arsenal.”

“At half-time we encouraged the team to show a little more individuality, a little more courage. We were more agile and had a fantastic second half. We deserved to win.”

“It’s always better to play in front of your fans. With every tackle and every good action, you receive support that lifts you up and gives you a second wind. It’s the semi-finals and everyone needs to step up – we need to step up and the fans need to step up again.”

“Today we had three empty spots on the bench. On the other hand, there were no injuries. We lost maximum momentum from the first match due to the losses of Davies, Coman and Gnabry. We needed to find solutions and we did it as a team. My biggest congratulations and compliments to the team. We are very happy”.

Bayern triumphed over the London club in the return match thanks to Kimmich’s goal – 1:0. The first confrontation in London ended in a draw (2:2).

The rival of Tuchel’s team in the Champions League semi-finals will be Real Madrid of Ukrainian Andrey Lunin.
