Lunin: The situation in my country is difficult, so it’s not easy for me to train day after day

The Ukrainian thanked all fans for their support

After defeating Manchester City in the quarter finals of the Champions League and reaching the semi-finals of the tournament, the Ukrainian goalkeeper Real Madrid Andrey Lunin admitted that he was experiencing difficulties in the training process. The goalkeeper’s problems are related to the difficult situation in Ukraine, where the war against the Russian Federation continues.

“I am the happiest person in the world. But in my country the situation is difficult. So it’s not easy for me to train day after day.”

“I want to thank everyone who supports me and would like to support the people from Ukraine. They are the strongest people in the world, I am proud of them. This will definitely end, and we will all live in peace.”

In the first quarter-final match, Real Madrid and Manchester City drew 3:3. During the return match, the Ukrainian saved his team several times, but 120 minutes of playing time also ended in a draw (1:1). In the penalty shootout, Lunin parried Bernard’s shot (in the center of the goal) and also parried Kovacic’s shot into the corner of the goal.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper played 27 matches for Blancos in all tournaments of the season. Lunin missed 23 goals in these meetings, and kept a clean sheet in 12 matches.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team will play Bayern in the Champions League semi-finals (April 30 and May 7).
