Denis Adamov: “It seems that lately all goalkeepers come to Zenit with excessive motivation”

Guardian of the Zenith Denis Adamov told that goalkeepers from other teams usually play with double dedication in St. Petersburg against the “blue-white-blue”.

On Wednesday, Zenit drew 0-0 at home against Spartak in the second leg of the RPL FONBET Russian Cup semi-final. Based on the sum of two matches (2:1, 0:0), Zenit reached the final of the RPL Way, where they will face CSKA Moscow.

After Abaskal’s resignation, Vladimir Slishkovich was the acting head coach of Spartak at this meeting.

— The match against Spartak, as usual, turned out to be difficult. It’s a shame we didn’t win, even though we really wanted to. When we scored, we still felt very emotional, but it was doubly disappointing that the goal was not scored in the end. On the other hand, the most important thing is that the task is completed and moved on to the next round. From this point of view everything is fine.

— Did Zenit manage to maintain the pace of the game, despite a busy schedule?

– I think it was possible. In the first half, the pace was generally very good; we created a lot of chances. Here, perhaps, we should mention the previous match in Krasnodar, where the match – one of the most important in this segment of the championship – turned out to be difficult, as well as quite a long way. That’s why it’s great that three days later, against Spartak, everyone was ready, as excited as possible for this match and wanted to win.

In the second half, however, we already played a bit to score. Something was missing a bit to score, but the most important thing is that we didn’t concede a goal.

— To what extent is your colleague Alexander Maksimenko “responsible” for the fact that Zenit did not score?

— It seems that lately all the goalkeepers come to us super motivated (smiles). We create a lot of good chances, but something is missing. Maybe luck. But seriously, I want to congratulate the goalkeepers of the opposing teams at the Gazprom Arena,” Adamov told .
