The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) suspended the goalkeeper “Tigers” Nahuel Guzman for 11 matches after pointing a laser pointer at the goalkeeper “Monterrey” Esteban Andradu during a Mexican championship match, according to the FMF website.
The incident occurred on April 14, while Tigres were playing against Monterrey on the 15th day of the championship. Guzman, injured and sitting in the stands, pointed a laser pointer at Monterrey players, including Andrada. The match ended in a draw with a score of 3:3.
“The commission decided to impose sanctions on Nahuel Guzman of the Tigres club in the form of disqualification for 11 matches, a financial fine and hours of community service,” the statement said.
Guzman apologized for his actions. A statement published on the Tigres website indicates that the club has accepted the sanction and, for its part, will apply additional sanctions to the player.
The federation also fined Andrada for a social media post in which he insulted Guzman.
