The coach will work until the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico
German Football Association announced the extension of the contract with the head coach of the national team Germany by Julian Nagelsmann.
The coach extended the agreement until 2026, that is, until the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The previous agreement expired at the end of the 2024 European Championship.
In April, Bayern were reported to be interested in bringing back the coach. In the fall of 2023, the Munich team released Nagelsmann to the German national team for free in order to free themselves from paying the former coach a salary. The 36-year-old mentor was also among the candidates for the post of head coach of Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
Julian previously worked as head coach of Hoffenheim and Leipzig. He led Bayern from the summer of 2021 to March 2023, became a champion with them, and won the German Super Cup twice.
In the summer, before the home European Championship 2024, the German national team will play a sparring match with Ukraine on June 3 in Nuremberg. At Euro 2024, Bundesteam will compete in Group A with Switzerland, Scotland and Hungary. The German team will open the tournament with a match against Scotland on June 14.
