Kostyuk: I felt all the match points go away

The Ukrainian sensationally beat the third racket of the world Coco Gauff

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk commented on reaching the semi-finals of the tournament WTA 500 V Stuttgart (Germany). In the quarter finals, the Ukrainian unexpectedly beat the third racket of the world Coco Gauff from the USA, managing to win on the eighth match point.

“What was going through your head after missing seven match points? Definitely the five match points I saved yesterday. And I felt them all leaving today. Yes, everything was very, very close. You know, it was a matter of a couple of pranks, or even just one. So it’s definitely an amazing feeling to be in the semi-finals.

I think it’s all about the little things that add up to a whole. I don’t think there was anything important or big that changed or happened. I think it was just patience and a lot of hard work and a lot of tears and, I don’t know, sweat and, you know, all the doubts. All this happened. I am very grateful to my team for supporting me today. It was even worse than yesterday, I think.

It was a very difficult week, games every day, very late finish. So, yes, every day I have less and less time to recover, and, of course, I will try to do everything possible to be ready for tomorrow and hope for another good match,” Kostyuk said after the game.

Let us remind you that in the second round the Ukrainian defeated the fifth racket of the tournament, Zheng Qingwen from China. In the semi-finals, Kostyuk will meet sixth seeded Marketa Vondrousova from the Czech Republic.
