Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey: We will never understand a word of support for a Russian murderer and aggressor

Turkish fans chanted the name of the Russian president at the match with Dynamo

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in Turkey Vasily Bodnar condemned the actions of Fenerbahce fans during the second leg of the second qualifying round Champions League with Dynamo.

“Football is a fair game. Yesterday, in the match against Fenerbahce, Dynamo Kyiv was stronger.”

“We understand the emotions and excitement that every fan experiences during such a tense game. But we will never understand a word of support for a Russian murderer and aggressor who deliberately kills Ukrainians and destroys our country.”

“Yesterday’s unacceptable actions of some Fenerbahce fans made us very sad. Even football, which is so loved in Turkey, has its limits.

I am grateful to the caring Turkish society for the instant reaction and condemnation of such inadequate actions of the fans,” the Ambassador wrote.

Dynamo defeated Fenerbahce in extra time in the second leg of the second qualifying round of the Champions League (2:1). The victory for Lucescu’s team was brought by goals from Buyalsky and Karavaev.

During the match, part of the Fenerbahce fans began to chant the name of the Russian president. Outraged by the actions of the fans, Kiev coach Mircea Lucescu refused to attend the post-match press conference.

Dynamo will play Sturm in the third round of Champions League qualification. The first fight will take place on August 3 in Lodz. The match starts at 21:00.

Ukraine is opposing full-scale Russian aggression for the 155th day.
