According to a coaching veteran, Mudryk’s unsuccessful performances for Chelsea created anti-advertising for Ukrainian football players in Europe
Former coach of Dynamo and the Ukrainian national team Jozsef Szabo shared his original opinion about the Chelsea winger Mikhail Mudrika and his recent colleague from Shakhtar Georgiy Sudakov.
“I’m not impressed by Sudakoff. Yes, he is able to work, but I don’t see him being a good tackler as a midfielder. They write a lot about him, but Shakhtar are used to stirring up interest in their players in order to sell them at a high price, like Mudrik.”
“But after Mudrik it’s not very good and they’re buying our players. Mikhail made anti-advertisement for our players with his performances for Chelsea. I don’t understand at all how the London club looked after him? What qualities did they see in him? Mudrik has nothing but speed! His opponents have been reading him for a long time and insurance is underway; no one plays one-on-one against Mudryk anymore. Therefore, he cannot do anything in the Premier League. Overrated player.”
“We don’t have great football players! For me, number one is Brazhko. He will be the first to go abroad. He has good attributes: tackling, field vision, passing, excellent shot. I don’t see another player like him in the Ukrainian championship.”
Today information appeared about the interest of Arsenal and Chelsea in Shakhtar leader Georgy Sudakov. Ukrainians already play in both London clubs: Alexander Zinchenko – in the Gunners and Mikhail Mudryk – in Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
Mudrik, we recall, moved to Chelsea in January 2023 and signed a contract for eight and a half years. Chelsea and Shakhtar agreed on the transfer of Mudryk for 100 million euros (including bonuses).
The Ukrainian had a hard time adapting to a new club and a new country. He managed to score his first goal for the Blues only in October last year, in the ninth month of his stay in the Chelsea camp. This season, 23-year-old Mudrik played in 34 matches for the Blues in all competitions, scored six goals and provided three assists. However, he does not have a stable place in the main lineup.
Shakhtar officially extended the contract with Sudkov in February. The new agreement is valid until December 31, 2028. The clause of the 21-year-old footballer’s contract is 150 million euros. However, subsequently, the general director of the Donetsk club, Sergei Palkin, said that in the summer Georgy would definitely move to a top European club.
Vladimir Brazhko is spending his first season at Dynamo. The 22-year-old defensive midfielder played 25 matches for the club in all competitions, scored six goals and provided three assists. In March, Vladimir was a starter in the Ukrainian national team’s winning matches in the Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs.
