Glushenkov has reached the level of the main Barcelona team, says ex-Chertanovo director

Former Chertanovo Academy director Nikolai Larin told MATCH PRIME that the Lokomotiv Moscow striker Maxim Gluchenkov ready to play in the starting lineup for Spanish Barcelona.

Glushenkov is 24 years old, this season the midfielder took part in 33 matches for Lokomotiv, scored eight goals and provided 17 assists.

— What is the profile position of Maxim Glushenkov?

– When he was at the Chertanovo school, he played as a “false nine”, a “nine”, and a “ten”, and on the wing. But my opinion: the “false new” is the most optimal. In Chertanovo it was a combination with Vladislav Sarveli, who is now also at Lokomotiv.

Maxim is such a versatile player with his own style and understanding of football that it should be easy for a coach to use him in different positions.

— You have said several times that Gluchenkov could play in Barcelona for a certain number of minutes. This time increased each time. How much could Maxim now play in a match for Barca?

— I’ll start with a little context: the first time I said that Maxim was a player of Barcelona’s level was for about 15 minutes, somewhere in the beginning of 2020. Now I think he is a starter at Barcelona. You can make fun of me, but that’s my opinion. I think he is the strongest Russian footballer. It would be fundamental for Russian football if a Russian footballer were recognized as the best player of the season. Perhaps it would not be Glushenkov, but conditional Tyukavin. But these are the two brightest players of the season, and it would be great if they were recognized, ”Larin said on the “8-16” broadcast of the FIRST MATCH.
