Yarmolenko: If we lose points elsewhere, we will forget about the championship

The star midfielder of Dynamo Kyiv spoke about the game with Polesie and the situation in the team.

Andrey Yarmolenko believes that Dynamo Kyiv can no longer lose points in the Ukrainian Premier League. The head of the Kyiv club spoke about this in an interview with the team’s press service.

In addition, the star midfielder spoke about the personnel situation in the state of “white-blues” and summarized the result of the match against Polesie.

– After victories, the mood is always great. Moreover, we won in Polesie with confidence and, I think, played well. Training is more renewed, we are preparing for the next game.

– Vladimir Brazhko is back in training, what does this mean for the team?

– We have about 25 players in the team, and everyone is ready to play. Of course, Vladimir Brazhko has been an important player for Dynamo this season, so for us his return to action is only a plus.

– How would you evaluate 2024, especially the spring part of the season, from the point of view of team play and results?

– It is still difficult to make a review of all the games, because there are both good matches and unsuccessful ones. If we want to be champions, we can’t lose points in matches like at home with LNZ, when the game is completely successful for us, we are leading 1:0 and controlling the events, but in last we played 1: 1, and Veres , when in the last minutes they lost victory. At the end of the season, these points may not be enough for us.

– They say that the game in Polesie is exemplary in terms of coordination in defense and attack, do you agree with this?

– It’s hard to say if this is the best game, maybe it’s still ahead, or it’s before Polesie. But the fact that we played well in attack and defense is a fact. Moreover, this applies not only to attacking players or defensive players, but also to the whole team, because everyone attacks and defends well. Especially against an opponent like Polesie, who I consider a strong team. In addition, we had a good incentive to get revenge after losing on the road in the first round.

– What should we expect from the next match on Dnepr-1?

– Probably a difficult game, for us and for them. We have our own tasks, they have their own tasks. Our matches have not been easy for anyone, so, I repeat, we expect a serious game. But now, every match is like a final. We understand that if we lose points elsewhere, we can forget about the championship.

– After returning to Dynamo, you have not played in Dnipro, what are your memories of matches in this city?

– Of course, the atmosphere that was in the stadiums then and what it is now is different, but what can you do? Our job is to go out and play football, whatever happens there.

– Every time you enter the field, the fans support you, do you feel it?

– Of course, I feel their support. This is why I came home. I also love and respect them, so I will continue to give all the energy I have to bring joy to our fans.
