Darijo Srna believes that the inhabitants of the aggressor country are only intimidated by the dictatorial regime.
There are normal people in Russia, but they quietly support the killing of Ukrainians because they fear reprisals from the dictatorial regime. The legendary former Shakhtar footballer Dario Srna spoke about this in an interview with KDK.
According to the Croatian, who now works as the director of the Donetsk football club, he spoke after the start of a mass attack on football players from the aggressor country.
– I have many friends in Serbia. I played with them, I lived with them, I cried with them, I was happy with them. One of them is Igor Dulyai, he is an amazing person, he loves Ukraine, he loves Shakhtar, he calls every day, he is worried. Played in Sevastopol, played in Shakhtar. Undoubtedly, he is very worried about Ukraine.
– No. He certainly wasn’t. Listen, just as there are normal people everywhere, there are also sick people everywhere. We hate Russia today, but I believe that even in Russia today there are normal people who are afraid to say anything. If they say anything against this flawed man, he will bury his whole family. They have a hard time here.
Even at the beginning of the war, some Dynamo Moscow players, for whom and against whom I played, wrote to me: “Dario, we are against the war, if we say something, they will kill us, the contract. These are the famous football players who play in the Russian national team.
I don’t talk to any of them anymore, but I want to tell you that maybe they will, but everything is there: he remains without a contract, everything is closed from him.
– I don’t understand them. On the other hand, what would we do in a similar situation?
– Until I am in a similar situation, I cannot speak about what I would do. I could have said to Shakhtar: “That’s it, the family went through the war” – and will never return to it. I can – I have a Croatian passport.
I will never forget how my husband said to me, when two or three weeks, maybe a month after the start of the war, I returned to Ukraine: “Look, take care of yourself, you have a family.” I told him in response: “I will, don’t worry, everything will be fine.” He said: “You are very happy that you are going to Ukraine, and this is during the war.” He understands that I am going to my people, to my home. I was happy to return to Ukraine even during the war.
We remind you that Darijo Srna previously announced the amount that Shakhtar wants to receive for Georgiy Sudakov.
