Ukrainian won the European Championship in the weight category up to 57 kg
Ukrainian judoka Daria Beloded commented on her victory on European Judo Championship 2024.
“After four long years, I finally won a big title again. I am very pleased to know that I can also win tournaments in the up to 57 kg weight category.”
“The European Championship was only my second competition this year. And between them I was at home, in Kyiv, training. It took me some time to find my current rhythm of competition. The deciding factor was that I was really mentally prepared.”
“I convinced myself that I can do this, why shouldn’t I win. And, fortunately, it finally succeeded. There is still a lot to happen before the Olympics. I still have a lot of room for improvement. But now I’m 60-65 percent ready, no more.”
“I want a second Olympic medal around my neck, preferably a gold one.”
For Beloded, this victory was the first at the European/World Championship level after changing the weight category in 2022. Daria became the European champion for the third time – in 2017 and 2019 she won gold medals in the up to 48 kg category.
Let us remember that earlier in 2024, Beloded won bronze at the Grand Slam tournament in the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku.
Euro 2024 judo takes place in Zagreb from 25 to 28 April. A total of 14 sets of medals will be competed for.
