Leeds, in second place, lost to QPR and will not be able to get past the Foxes
Leicester issued an early return to English Premier League.
The Foxes, leading the Championship, received promotion after Leeds’ defeat to QPR (0:4) in the 45th round. Second-placed Leeds are four points behind the leaders with one game to go and will be unable to overtake Leicester.
In third place is Ipswich, who are five points behind the Foxes with three matches in the Championship. Fourth, Southampton, are ten points behind with two games remaining. Thus, Leicester guaranteed at least second place, which ensures access to the Premier League.
Leicester were relegated to the Championship last season. Prior to this, the team spent nine years in a row in the Premier League, winning the championship title in the 2015/16 season.
In the match of the 45th round, Leicester will play with Preston on April 29. The Foxes will play their last match in the 2023/24 Championship on May 4 against Blackburn.
