Anatoly was again left without a “wedge shield”, but he helped out more than once
Benfica put the squeeze on her field Braga in one of the two central matches of the 31st round Portuguese Championship – 3:1.
The visitors won the first half. Anatoly Trubin, after hitting Ricardo Orta from 13 meters, missed the ball under him, but several players blocked his view at once. Subsequently, the Ukrainian played well, making several saves, in particular after Alvaro Djalo’s dangerous exit in the 40th minute.
In total, Trubin has already played 46 matches for the club this season (of which only 16 were clean sheets), conceding 45 goals.
After the break, the initiative and game advantage were already on Benfica’s side, and Trubin was mostly bored. The hosts came back in the middle of the half – Marcos Leonardo, who came on as a substitute, scored with almost his first touch.
The Eagles continued to push the pressure and finally snatched victory: Angel Di Maria’s homing cross was turned in at the far post by David Neres. Soon the guests were left in the minority – Victor Gomez was sent off for a flagrant foul on Di Maria. In the power play, Benfica finished off their opponents – Leonardo scored a double with a shot from close range.
The victory allowed Roger Schmidt’s team to at least temporarily reduce the gap to Sporting to four points. Braga remained fourth and risks losing the lead to Porto, which will host Sporting tomorrow, April 28.
