Arsenal without Zinchenko beat Tottenham in a productive away derby

The Gunners were leading by a large score, but almost squandered the advantage

Arsenal got an away win over Tottenham in the 35th round match English Premier League – 3:2.

The North London derby turned out to be rich in scoring chances. Arsenal opened the scoring with some luck – Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, after a cross from Bukayo Saka, cut the ball into the near corner of his own goal.

Tottenham, on the contrary, was desperately unlucky. Christian Romero finished a cross from the left at point-blank range, but hit the post. Soon, Mickey van de Ven’s goal after a set piece was disallowed due to minimal offside, and the Gunners immediately increased the score – Saka made a great move in the penalty area after Kai Havertz’s pass.

Spurs attacked and missed chances. And Arsenal won the half with a big score – now Havertz himself scored from a pass from Declan Rice.

It seemed that the game was done, and the guests confidently controlled it. But suddenly David Raya gave the ball to Romero out of the blue, and the Argentine defender still signed for the opponent’s goal.

Towards the end, the intrigue rose to its feet: Rice committed an absolutely thoughtless foul on Ben Davis, and Heung-Min Son converted the penalty kick. Ange Postecoglou’s team piled on in the end, but still could not win back.

Ukrainian Alexander Zinchenko spent the entire game on the bench. Note that he only appeared on the field in one match out of the last four. And only once appeared in the Gunners’ starting line-up in the last six meetings.

Arsenal lead the Premier League, four points ahead of Manchester City. The Citizens have two games in hand. Tottenham is in fifth position in the league table.

Arsenal’s next match will host Bournemouth on May 4. Tottenham will play Chelsea in the rescheduled match of the 26th round of the Premier League on May 2.
