The Parisian club won the title for the third time in a row and the 12th in history
Paris Saint-Germain ahead of schedule, three rounds before the end of the championship, became the winner of the French League 1 season 2023/24.
The championship title went to the Parisian club after the second-place Monaco lost dramatically on the road Lyon with a score of 2:3. Thus, the gap between first and second place was an unrecoverable 12 points.
PSG is the record holder of his country for the number of championship titles, of which there are already 12 in his club museum. Saint-Etienne became the champion ten times, Marseille 9, Monaco and Nantes 8 each, Lyon seven. The top 10 also includes Bordeaux, Reims, Lille and Nice; everyone else has not won the French Championship more than twice.
The Parisians have won ten of their 12 championships in recent times – since 2013. Over the past 11 years, only twice has someone else become champion – respectively, Monaco in 2017 and Lille in 2021.
Lyon, who had a terrible start to the season, spent some time in the relegation zone and had to change coaches several times, are currently fighting for a place in the European competition zone. In addition, it is PSG that the Weavers will meet in the French Cup final on May 25.
The capital’s giants also continue to fight in the Champions League. On Wednesday, May 1, Luis Enrique’s team will play in Dortmund against Borussia in the first leg of the semi-final.
