Sukhanov: I drew conclusions for myself from the match with Shakhtar. We’re playing football, not in some kind of fight club.

Midfielder of Obolon – about the match with Zorya in the 26th round of the UPL and the finish of the championship

Midfielder Obolon Sergey Sukhanov appreciated match with Zarya in the 26th round of the Ukrainian Championship, shared his opinion regarding the finish of the championship and remembered game with Shakhtarin which there was removed from the field at the end of the first half.

— Could Obolon have won against Zarya?

– We could win or lose. We did not convert the chances that we created at the opponent’s goal. Let us thank God, we won our point. It’s good that we didn’t concede an own goal. Perhaps this score will be golden for us.

— Obolon rarely plays to zero…

— This is the second game in the spring when we don’t concede. At the Obolon Arena we beat Polesie 1:0.

— How do you like the performance of your goalkeeper Fedorivsky?

— Nazariy played the whole match very well. A few minutes before the end of the match, he was injured, but was able to play until the final whistle. Our coaching staff had already used all five substitutions by that time. We are all grateful to Nazariy for his contribution to the final result.

— Do you agree that the final 0:0 0 is an illogical result?

– Yes, there should have been goals scored in this match. We probably did not have enough football luck, and skill, too. I want to say that it was not easy to play in such hot weather. The meeting started at 13:00 and the sun was very hot. It’s better to play in the evening.

— What did you think when your partners brought Krasnopir into a striking position in the 89th minute of the match?

— I thought that Igor would receive the ball and, on the backswing, shoot with his left foot. And he immediately punched into touch. Later he told me that he was very tired and missed the ball.

— But Vanat from Dynamo Kyiv scored against Dnepr-1 yesterday in a similar situation…

– It’s all skill.

— Obolon played twice at the Left Bank stadium in a week. Which match was more successful for your team – against Metalist 1925 or against Zarya?

— We also played well against Metalist 1925, maybe we got a little carried away in the second half. And today, with Zarya, at the beginning of the game we gave the initiative a little to the opponent, and in the second half we began to create chances at the opponent’s goal. We played zero in defense.

— Today you have 22 points in your asset. What are Obolon’s chances of surviving at the finish of the championship?

— As our coaching staff says, we have four finals left. You need to go out onto the football field and try to win every match.

— Sergey, let’s go back to the Obolon – Shakhtar game, which took place on March 30th. Then the referee of the match, Alexander Kalenov, sent you off in the 45th minute of the game. What conclusion did you draw for yourself after that match?

— I made a tackle on the edge and wanted to encourage my partners, showing that it was possible to play against Shakhtar. I thought I could be first on the ball. However, Marjan Shved was faster than me. I didn’t want to hurt Swede. Then, looking at the video replay of this episode, it was clear that I fouled. At that moment I wanted to start myself, first of all. If I had hit the ball in that episode, it would have added to my confidence in that match.

— Although Valery Bondar said in an interview that a couple of minutes before that you played rudely against him?

“I could have fouled Bondar then, but I managed to remove my foot. I agree that even then the referee could have shown me a red card if I had not removed my foot at the last moment. I drew conclusions for myself. We are playing football, not in some kind of fight club. Without passion, the thirst for victory, we do not enter the football field. I didn’t play like that on purpose.
