The defender suffered a torn ankle ligament
Defender Everton And Ukrainian national team Vitaly Mykolenko said he would not need surgery for his ankle injury. The player plans to recover by European Championship 2024.
“First of all, I want to say a big thank you to everyone for the words of support, I read and see everything. I don’t need surgery and now my goal is to recover as soon as possible. I hope we’ll see you at the Euro,” the footballer wrote.
“Evertonians, you have been amazing this season, especially in the derby. So I got up after the injury and played as much as I could. See you next season of Toffee.”
Earlier it was reported that the defender suffered a torn ankle ligament. With conservative treatment, Mikolenko will be able to return to action in six weeks.
Let us remind you that on April 24, during the first half of the home derby with Liverpool (Everton won 2:0), Mikolenko twisted his ankle in an extremely unfortunate manner. At the same time, the defender played until the break, and only then was replaced by Ashley Young. In the second half, Vitaly was already moving on crutches. According to head coach Sean Dyche, early indications were that things were “not looking good”.
The Ukrainian national team will play in Quartet E with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania in the group stage of the 2024 European Championship. The Ukrainians will play their first match against Romania on June 17. Ticket sales for the blue-yellow matches at Euro 2024 are also open.
