Cincinnati officially leased Kelce from Shakhtar

The contract runs until the end of 2024 and contains a buyout option.

FC Cincinnati officially announced the transfer of the striker Miner Kevin Kelsey on lease until the end of 2024.

The agreement contains a buyout option. As previously reported, the Donetsk club will receive guaranteed compensation of $800 thousand for the lease. In addition, the MLS team will have the opportunity to buy out the Venezuelan’s contract for seven million dollars.

“I’m excited to join Cincinnati. This is an exciting project and I’m looking forward to playing my first game. I can’t wait to meet the fans and play my first game at TQL Stadium,” said the Venezuelan forward.

Kelsey is 19 years old. Already at 16, he made his debut in the top division of Venezuela, and moved to Shakhtar in January 2023 from the Uruguayan Boston River. His contract with the Miners runs until the end of 2027.

This season, Kevin played 20 matches for Shakhtar in all competitions, scoring three goals and two assists. However, under Marino Pusic, Kevin suddenly lost playing time. This year he never entered the field, completely losing the competition to Daniil Sican and Lassina Traore.

Cincinnati is in second place in the MLS Eastern Conference standings, behind only Inter Miami. Kelsey could make his debut for the new team on May 4, in an away match against Orlando City.
