Zinchenko on leaving Manchester City: I was not ready for this day

The Ukrainian barely held back tears during the farewell to the Citizens

Ukrainian defender Alexander Zinchenko commented on his move from Manchester City to Arsenal.

Zinchenko thanked his teammates, coaching staff and club staff for their support and teamwork. Alexander also wished the Citizens further success and assured them of sincere love.

“Firstly, I would like to thank Josep Guardiola and his fantastic staff for such a wonderful opportunity to be a small part of such an incredible club. I could not even dream that one day I would become a Manchester City player and Pep Guardiola would be my coach. It was impossible even to imagine. This is a huge privilege. Every day I learn something from all of you.”

“I’ll try to be short because I don’t want to take your time and I just want you to enjoy this dinner because you deserve it. I can list everyone to whom I am grateful, all the staff. But you already know how much I love you all. So my phone will always be on for you, 24/7.”

“The only thing I would like to say to all of you is that you continue to be who you are now, continue to do what you are doing. And you will definitely achieve what you dream of. You are all fantastic people. Thank God I know you all personally. And, of course, I love you all very much. You will always be in my heart.”

“Sorry, I can’t hold back my tears, because it comes from within. I wasn’t ready for this day. But that’s life and it goes on. I want to reiterate that I am grateful to everyone for what you have done for me and for my family during all this incredible time. Thank you very much”.
