Grigorchuk: We won’t change anything especially in the next game with Shakhtar

Today Chernomorets suffered a crushing defeat from the Miners

Head coach Chernomorets Roman Grigorchuk commented on the team’s defeat from Shakhtar (1:4) in the postponed match of the 12th round of the Ukrainian championship.

“The result was not very good, unfortunately. I think that Shakhtar’s victory is natural. There are no questions here at all. There was a significant difference in class, skill and a very big difference in the speed qualities of the players. We understand that Shakhtar’s selection of performers is very strong, and they are a force that is not easy to cope with.”

“We can’t bang our heads against the wall and we have to be smart about everything. We understood that we would be opposed by performers with fantastic speed qualities, enhanced by skill. We shouldn’t approach the fight in a primitive way just because we want to and this is our style of play. Yes, when the difference in class and speed is noticeable, adjustments must be made. But I really don’t want to do this, because the logical line is lost when we work hard, believe in the same principles, and suddenly we change everything and get defensive, not understanding what we are doing. We have made adjustments, but this does not mean that we are giving up anything.”

In the next game, I’ll tell you frankly, we won’t change anything in particular and we’ll try, but there will be some changes. We understand that it is difficult to do this, especially against such a strong opponent.”

“Why is transferring matches to Kyiv convenient for Chernomorets? Previously, it was more or less convenient to get to Lviv, and we could arrive in a day, but now the flight time has been changed, it arrives at 6:00. The night was just interrupted, and we felt that it was somehow difficult for us because of this in the cup match, so we didn’t want to repeat it. The proposed option of postponing matches suits us very well, because we got to Kyiv on a normal road in four and a half hours. No problems in such a situation is normal for us. Probably, if there were many fans in the stands, we would not have done this, but now there are few fans, so we decided to save a little energy, because every next game is the most important for Chernomorets.”

Chernomorets is in 10th position in the UPL. The Mariners will also play their next match in the Premier League against Shakhtar in Kyiv on May 5.
