The Ukrainian Super Cup was last played in 2021
Vice President Ukrainian Football Association Alexander Shevchenko reported that the organization is considering different options for holding Super Bowl based on the results of the 2023/24 season.
“We are considering different options and there is no final decision on the Super Cup yet. The new UAF team has its finger on the pulse, Sergei Stanislavovich Rebrov is also involved in this, because he is involved in the institute of national teams. UPL and clubs are constantly in contact with us. It is also important to hear the players’ position. Only after this will the final decision be made,” Shevchenko said.
Earlier, Sport Arena reported that the match for the Ukrainian Super Cup in 2024 could be canceled due to the heavy workload on clubs this summer. Ukrainian football players will take part in the elite European Championship, as well as the Youth Euro. The Ukrainian national team will play at the 2024 Olympics. After this, Ukrainian clubs will have to hold qualifying matches for next season’s European Cups.
The last time the Ukrainian Super Cup was played in 2021, Shakhtar defeated Dynamo (3:0) at the NSC Olimpiyskiy. Subsequently, the tournament could not be held due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Shakhtar is leading the Ukrainian championship, four points ahead of Dynamo. The miners also qualify for the Ukrainian Cup, and will play Vorskla in the final on May 15.
