He was a sparring partner for both Fury and Usyk
British boxer Fabio Wardley commented on the upcoming fight of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Alexandra Usika with WBC title holder Tyson Fury for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion.
“I will always support the British and of course I want Fury to win, but I still lean towards Usik. I think mentality plays a huge role in boxing.”
“Fury has achieved a lot and has been in the spotlight for a very long time. I really like him. Great guy. I think Tyson underestimated Francis Ngannou a little in the last fight.”
Wardley was once a sparring partner for both Usyk and Fury. Fabio admitted that both fighters “are not comfortable.”
“Both guys were a nightmare. They certainly aren’t good sparring partners.”
The unification fight between Usik and Fury will take place on May 18. The list of other fights that will take place as part of the boxing evening in Saudi Arabia is also known. Among them is the fight between Ukrainian Daniel Lapin and Portuguese Octavio Pudivitra for the WBA Continental light heavyweight title.
The event will be hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The WBC proposes to reform the judges for the reporting fight, increasing their number to 5-6 people. Penalties for boxers who refuse to fight are $10 million.
WBC President Mauricio Suleiman announced that an agreement had been concluded between the boxers for a re-fight. The WBO is also ready to sanction the second fight. It was reported that the fate of a possible rematch depends on the holding of the first fight. Fury said that the contract has a mandatory rematch clause, and a re-fight with Usyk could take place in October.
