Suspended from football for 10 months for placing sports bets, the midfielder from Newcastle, Sandro Tonali, was once again condemned for the reason, this time by the English Federation. The new punishment appears suspended, which means it is only valid for repeat offenses of the act already carried out.

Currently, Tonali has not taken to the field since October 2023, when he was punished by the FIGC and was away from the sport for 18 months. This happened because the professional had placed sports bets while still working for Milanin previous seasons, which is illegal worldwide.

Despite this, the player did so again after being signed by Newcastle at the beginning of this season, and the suspended punishment carried out by the FA concerns 50 bets made between August 12th and October 12th last year. In addition to the possibility of being stopped for another two months if he committed the act again, he also received a fine of 20 thousand pounds (R$ 128 thousand).

It is worth remembering that in addition to this, Fagioli, another Italian midfielder was also suspended for the same reason, in an illegal betting scandal in the country.
