UEFA expanded national team entries for Euro 2024 to 26 players – L’Equipe

This decision was approved today by the Executive Committee of the continental governing body

UEFA Executive Committee approved an increase in team applications from 23 to 26 players on European Championship 2024.

Earlier in April, the UEFA Committee on National Team Tournaments voted to expand the entry lists of national teams for the continental championship. At the same time, Philippe Diallo, president of the French Football Federation, and Didier Deschamps, coach of the French national team, spoke out against this decision.

Reportedly, at Euro 2024, each player from the expanded application list will appear in the application for each specific match of his team.

Previously, coaches of some national teams put forward a proposal to increase the number of football players at the 2024 European Championship. Let us remind you that UEFA has increased the number of players in applications to 26 for Euro 2020 due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. FIFA has also expanded the applications of national teams for the 2022 World Cup.

The Ukrainian national team will play in the group stage of the 2024 European Championship in Quartet E with Belgium, Slovakia and Romania. Sergei Rebrov’s team will play the first match against Romania on June 17. Ticket sales for the blue-yellow matches at Euro 2024 are also open.

Euro 2024 will take place in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024. The matches of the European Championship will be held in arenas in Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich and Stuttgart.
