Ruslan led the team from Kovalivka for more than seven years and went with it all the way from the Ukrainian amateur championship to the top of the Premier League table and European Cup qualification
Former coach Colosa Ruslan Kostyshin admitted that he would not have thought for a long time about the offer to return to the club from the Kyiv region.
“When you, together with the president of the club, built this team from the very bottom and reached the European Cup matches with it, it always leaves a special mark and the corresponding attitude is imprinted for a long time. If I had received an offer from Kolos, I would most likely have returned. After all, this is his own, dear… A person is designed in such a way that he always wants to return to his parents’ house – to the place where he was born or raised. And I’m no exception.”
Let us remind you that Kostyshin Sr., known for his performances for CSKA (Kyiv), Arsenal, Dnepr and Krivbass, ended his playing career in Kolos (2014), while simultaneously starting his coaching career there.
Ruslan led the team from Kovalivka for more than seven years. He traveled with the team from the Ukrainian amateur championship to the top of the Premier League standings and qualification for European Cup tournaments. In August 2021, the specialist left the post of head coach, after which he served as vice-president of Kolos until January 2022.
Subsequently, for 15 months, Kostyshin was the head coach of the Kazakh Aksu. He has been unemployed since April 2023.
Ruslan’s son, Denis Kostyshin, is also a famous football player. He played for Dnepr, Kolos (under the leadership of his father), Alexandria and American El Paso. In January of this year he returned to the location of Ruslan Rotan’s team.
Let us remind you that Kolos replaced the head coach at the end of April. The ex-mentor of the youth team, Alexander Pozdeev, became acting until the end of the season, and his predecessor Yaroslav Vishnyak, like Kostyshyn once, was transferred to the position of vice-president.
Kolos is in ninth place in the UPL with 29 points. Pozdeev’s debut in his new status will take place on May 5 in an away match against Dynamo.
