Everton drew away at Luton

The Hatters fighting for survival could have snatched victory in the end, but the Toffees survived

Luton And Everton tied in the opening match of the 36th round English Premier League – 1:1.

The Toffees have already secured their survival in the Premier League, while for the Hatters the fight is in full swing. The match took place at a fairly fast pace. The hosts attacked a little more often, the guests did it a little more sharply.

By the end of half an hour of play, the opponents exchanged goals. First, Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted the penalty for Teden Menga’s foul on Jarrad Branthwaite. Luton fought back with Elijah Adebayo pushing past Ashley Young.

In the second half, Everton were perhaps closer to a second goal. In particular, Thomas Kaminski pulled out a point-blank header from Calvert-Lewin. Ross Barkley didn’t take advantage of the hosts’ good chance.

In the last minutes, the hosts made a rush and were close to victory. Carlton Morris and Luke Berry missed their chances, and after Andros Townsend’s shot the ball was blocked by Branthwaite’s foot.

Everton’s Ukrainian defender Vitaly Mykolenko did not take part in the match. Let us remind you that he is recovering from an ankle injury and will not play for the club this season.

As a result, Luton caught up with Nottingham Forest on points, but due to a worse goal difference they remained 18th. Everton is in 15th position and will not go lower than one place.

In the next round, the Hatters will play away at West Ham, and the Toffees will host Sheffield United.
