De Zerbi: I want to stay at Brighton next season

The coach plans to have a conversation with the club owner regarding the development strategy

Head coach Brighton Roberto De Zerbi stated that he wants to stay at the club next season. The Italian spoke about this at a meeting with the team’s fans.

“We’re going to talk to Tony Bloom [владельцем Брайтона]. I think I would like to stay at Brighton because I love my players. I love this city. I love my club, my fans.”

“If I’m happy, no club can force me to change teams, but I want to always maintain my passion. I would like to compete in every game with all my potential qualities of players, composition, style of play. Unfortunately, especially in the last three months, we haven’t been able to maintain that.”

“I think management knows what we need. We can’t forget that we are Brighton. We are not a top team. We have to accept our policy at the club because we love working in Brighton. But if we can fight at a higher level, we have to do it.”

It was previously reported that the Italian is preparing to leave Brighton in the summer transfer window, despite the current contract until 2026. Liverpool and Bayern were interested in the coach’s services. Manchester United is also considering De Zerbi as the main contender for the post of head coach.

Shakhtar’s ex-mentor himself previously hinted that he expected to remain at the club. The Italian postponed the final decision until the end of the season.

Brighton are in 12th place in the Premier League with 44 points. The Seagulls next face Aston Villa on May 5.
