For the first time this season – and immediately to zero – the Blancos goal was defended by Courtois
real Madrid won a landslide victory at home against Cadiz in the home match of the 34th round of the Spanish Examples – 3:0.
The main event of this meeting happened even before it began, when it became known that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois would be in the Blancos starting line-up for the first time this season. The Belgian, who had recovered from another injury, was given his place by the Ukrainian Andrey Lunin.
The debut turned out to be ideal for Thibault: a minimum of work (the guests scored only one shot on target during the entire match) and, as a result, a clean sheet. Let us note that head coach Carlo Ancelotti, in addition to Lunin, provided rest to many of the main players.
Cadiz held out the half, and at the start of the second half almost took the lead – Chris Ramos robbed a defender, ran away one on one, but lost the duel to Courtois. A minute later, the favorite opened the scoring – Brahim Diaz made a great turn in the penalty area and sent the ball into the far top corner.
In the middle of the half, Jude Bellingham appeared as a substitute and scored almost immediately, completing a quick combination from the goal line. Diaz added an assist to the goal.
Subsequently, Madrid was close to a major victory (Vinicius almost assisted with a rabona, but Eder Militao’s point-blank shot was pulled away by Jeremias Ledesma) and still achieved it in stoppage time. Counterattack, and Joselu finished off Nacho Fernandez’s cross into the empty net.
Los Blancos are one step away from the championship title. It could be issued today if Barcelona does not beat Girona away. Already on Wednesday, May 8, Ancelotti’s team in Madrid will face the second semi-final match of the Champions League against Bayern (the first meeting ended with a score of 2:2).
Cadiz remained 18th and worsened its prospects of escaping relegation. In the next round, Mauricio Pellegrino’s team will host Getafe.
