Over 16 years, Miralem played 115 times for the national team – the second most in history after Dzeko
Miralem Pjanic officially announced that he is retiring from the national team Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The 34-year-old midfielder made his senior national team debut in August 2008. For almost 16 years, Miralem played 115 matches for the Golden Lilies (the second result in history after Edin Dzeko), scored 18 goals and provided 29 assists. Participant of the 2014 World Cup.
Pjanic played his last match for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team on March 21 in a home match against Ukraine in the semi-finals of the Euro 2024 qualifying playoffs. Then Miralem came on as a substitute at the end when the score was 1:0 and almost made an assist with his first touch. Soon Sergei Rebrov’s team scored twice and snatched a strong-willed victory.
At the club level, Pjanic represented the French Metz and Lyon, the Italian Roma and Juventus, the Spanish Barcelona and the Turkish Besiktas. Since 2022 he has been playing for FC Sharjah from the UAE.
