Union sacked Bjelica and appointed Grote until the end of the season

Horvat worked as the head coach of the Berlin club for a little over six months

Croat Nenad Bjelica left his post as head coach of Berlin Union. Until the end of the season, the Union U-19 coach will lead the team in an acting capacity. Marco Grote.

The temporary coach will be assisted by Marie-Louise Eta (the first female coach in the men’s Bundesliga in particular and the top championship in general) and Sebastian Benig.

Bjelica, 53, worked for the German club for just over six months. He came to Union in November 2023, replacing Urs Fischer, who entered the Champions League with the team, but was subsequently fired as the team showed serious regression in the championship.

Union is fighting for survival, two rounds before the finish line one point ahead of Mainz, which is in the relegation zone. In the next round, the Berliners will play away against Cologne.
