The Krivbass coach commented on the unsuccessful result against Dnepr-1, and also spoke about the players’ complaints about the heat
Head coach Krivbassa Yuri Vernidub spoke out about the away defeat to SK Dnepr-1 (0:1) in the match of the 27th round Ukrainian Premier League.
“In my opinion, this is our worst game this season. It’s difficult to explain why this happened. But we move on, because there are still three rounds ahead. I think that Dnepr-1 deservedly won today. 18-year-old Gadzhiev scored a good goal – this is his first goal at a high level. If we played like we did in the last 12-15 minutes, we could count on something. Unfortunately, we lost today.”
“You know, when I hear that football players are complaining about the heat… It’s difficult now for the guys on the front line. It’s hot there and more. And it is thanks to our soldiers that we have the opportunity to hold the championship, for me to work as a coach, and for the athletes to play. Perhaps it was unusual for us today to play at one o’clock in the afternoon.”
“Our matches always start at 18:00, and for Dnipro, on the contrary, at 13:00. Therefore, I structured the entire training week in classes exactly according to this schedule – at lunch. After all, I understood that we could “float” somewhere in the sun, like butter in a hot frying pan. Some of this could be seen today.”
“However, this does not justify us at all. I repeat once again that it is a sin for us to complain. The situation at the front is very difficult now. I communicate with many military personnel, including those brothers with whom I served at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. But I still believe that everything should end in our victory. These football victories are something like this: it is there, then it is not… But the victory of Ukraine is the most important thing. Therefore, we hold on and believe in the Ukrainian Armed Forces!”
Let us remind you that today the third team of the UPL lost to the fourth team on the road. The only goal was scored by 18-year-old Ramik Gadzhiev. The match was interrupted several times due to air raid raids.
Krivbass is six points ahead of Dnepr-1 and can guarantee itself third place in the next round.
