The Independent Appeals Commission upheld the commission’s decision to remove the “Nottingham Forest » four points in the English championship standings for financial violations, according to the Premier League website.
Nottingham Forest were stripped of four points in March for breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). The matter was referred to an independent commission in January after the club reported losses exceeding the allowable amount for the three-year reporting period ending with the 2022/23 season.
“The club argued that the panel erred in not considering the sale of a high-profile player shortly after the end of the evaluation period as a mitigating circumstance, and that it erred again by choosing not to suspend all or part of the point deduction” Each of these reasons was rejected by the appeals committee, the press release said.
Nottingham Forest, two rounds from the end of the championship, occupy 17th place in the English Championship standings, with 29 points. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are three points clear of the relegation zone.
