Alexander Usyk and Tyson Fury will fight for the title of absolute world champion in Riyadh
Egis Klimasmanager of the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Alexandra Usikathanked the Chairman of the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority Turks of Al ash-Sheikh for organizing the fight between the Ukrainian and the WBC champion Tyson Fury.
“Thank you for making this historic fight! We, the Usyk team, bring only warmth to Riyadh to show the world and boxing fans who is the BEST! It’s a tough fight for both guys, but History can’t be made easy. Thank you very much, Your Excellency! Viva Riyadh,” Klimas wrote.
The unification fight between Usik and Fury will take place on May 18. The list of other fights that will take place as part of the boxing evening in Saudi Arabia is also known. Among them is the fight between Ukrainian Daniel Lapin and Portuguese Octavio Pudivitra for the WBA Continental light heavyweight title.
The event will be hosted by Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The WBC proposes to reform the judges for the reporting fight, increasing their number to 5-6 people. Penalties for boxers who refuse to fight are $10 million.
WBC President Mauricio Suleiman announced that an agreement had been concluded between the boxers for a re-fight. The WBO is also ready to sanction the second fight. It was reported that the fate of a possible rematch depends on the holding of the first fight. Fury said that the contract has a mandatory rematch clause, and a re-fight with Usyk could take place in October.
