Borussia Dortmund defender talks about reaching the Champions League final
Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels praised his team’s victory in the second semi-final match of the Champions League with PSG (1:0).
Hummels scored the only goal in the match, which allowed the Bumblebees to secure a second victory over the French club and reach the final of the tournament.
“Throughout my entire career, I have scored few goals in the Champions League – only five times. It’s time to add another goal to this. From our second group game we believed we could win every game and I wonder why we don’t do it at Wembley now. Today we withstood a very high pace of play and such an atmosphere in the stadium,” the player said after the match.
Borussia will play in the Champions League final for the third time in its history. In 1997, the Bumblebees beat Juventus (3:1), and in 2013 they lost to Bayern (1:2).
The 2023/2024 Champions League final will take place on June 1 in London at Wembley Stadium. The second participant in the decisive match of the tournament will be determined today in Madrid, where Real will play Bayern. The first meeting between the teams ended in a draw (2:2).
