Rukh asked to change referee Sandor in the match with Obolon

The Lviv club wants to avoid pressure on the Lviv referee

Rukh appealed to the Committee of Referees of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) with a request to replace the chief referee Alexandra Shandora in the match of the 28th round of the Ukrainian Premier League with Obolon. Sandor represents the Lions, which can put pressure on both the referee and the teams.

“This game has great tournament significance for both teams. We do not question the qualifications of the chief referee Alexander Sandor. However, we are concerned about the fact that referee Shandor and FC Rukh represent the city of Lviv. We do not rule out that Alexander Sandor has known the players and employees of our club for many years. And this may put unnecessary pressure on the referee. We also believe that such an appointment is unethical in relation to our rival Obolon.”

“Our club supports the changes proposed by the UAF Referees Committee, in particular regarding the draw procedure. However, we are convinced that in the situation with the appointment of referee Alexander Shandor for a game with the participation of FC Rukh, it would be advisable to make an exception and replace him with any other referee.”

Rukh ranks fifth in the UPL with 45 points. Obolon is in the relegation playoff zone with 25 points. The match of the 28th round Obolon – Rukh is scheduled in Kyiv on May 11. The meeting starts at 15:30.
